Department of Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry
Department of Pharmacognosy is engaged in the study of the drugs from natural products i.e. plant, animals, marine and other life origins. Research areas include extraction, isolation, characterization, and biological studies of phytoconstituents using animal models. The department also deals with development and standardization of novel herbal formulations and cosmetics.
The Department of Pharmacognosy provide extensive theoretical as well as practical knowledge in extraction and isolation of various secondary metabolites, formulation, and standardization of herbal cosmetics at its undergraduate level.
The students undergoing post-graduation are trained and skilled with every aspect of pharmacognostical and phytochemical research and were given a clear insight on herbal drug development, isolation, characterization of active constituents, bio prospecting, development of nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals of natural origin.
